Descriptions ~

Basic
For students who are new to yoga students or practitioners of any level who want to practice at a slower pace and will benefit from detailed descriptions of poses and alignment. Ideal for new students or anyone wanting to brush up on yoga fundamentals. Simple poses and breath work are the focus of our Basic Class. You will build strength, increase flexability and experience relaxation.

Vinyasa
For students with at least six months of consistent yoga practice. Vinyasa Yoga means “movement linked with breath”. You will build strength & stamina, increase flexibility, improve balance & posture, and sweat! In Vinyasa classes the student will also find a new level of focus and mindfulness as your breath guides you deeper into a relaxed and rejuvenated state.

Gentle Restorative
For students who are looking for the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation. An ultra slow paced class where "active relaxation" is practiced and students at all levels are welcome. The class focuses on relaxing the body in restful postures through easeful breath and with the assistance of yoga props. With props it is easier for the body to get into certain poses, and thus, surrender to the pose. Restorative poses offer benefits to both the body and mind, for conditions including insomnia, asthma, chronic pain, migraines, and depression.

Community Classes
As a community based studio we are proud to invite everyone to come and join us! The class is offered at a discounted rate of only $5.00, with proceeds donated to community-based nonprofits in Brooklyn Heights. Class cards do not apply; cash only.

Ashtanga
Ashtanga is a form of Hatha Yoga that uses a powerful sequence of postures known as the Primary Series. Individual attention given with hands-on adjustments in the tradition of Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga Yoga develops strength, flexibility, and a realignment of the body. Intermediate to advanced levels.

Anusara
The poses are to be “heart-oriented”, expressed from “inside out”, instead of trying to control the body and mind from the outside. Emphasis is on remembering the spiritual purpose of hatha/vinyasa yoga, including reconnecting with our innate goodness, power, and beauty, and expressing ourselves from that divine place.

Core Yoga
A Vinyasa style class specifically designed to strengthen your core. Most of the poses will be familiar to anyone who has taken a Vinyasa class, but with extra focus on balancing to help strengthen and tone the muscles of the belly and back. With a stable center for our limbs to radiate out from, our poses and practice becomes stronger from the inside out. A challenging and rigorous class but accessible to anyone.

Lunchtime Yoga
These classes are open level Vinyasa classes for busy people who want to pack their yoga practice into a quick one hour session but still want to build strength, increase flexibility, and catch their breath.

Prenatal
Yoga postures with pregnancy modifications for moms-to-be. Some prior yoga experience is recommended. Emphasis on alignment and overall body awareness, restorative postures, breathing, and relaxation.

Mommy & Baby
Reawaken and tone your body while bonding with your baby. A gentle yet challenging practice including asanas for you and baby, this postnatal class will help you strengthen body and heart, and restore your sense of calm. It is also a great opportunity to meet other new moms and babies in a comfortable and baby-safe environment. 6 weeks old to walkers.

Choose any class from the Yoga People schedule and have your own private instructor provide both small and large adjustments to deepen and strengthen your practice. An In-Class Personal Instructor allows a certified teacher to work one-on-one with you throughout the class to ensure proper alignment while simultaneously guiding you towards breakthroughs in your practice. In-Class Personal Instructors also share the benefits of massage, working deep into the body to release muscle, psychological & inner-body stress, fears, and blockages.
